Completion requirements
- In-Service
Online in-service continuing education is available for current North Carolina law enforcement officers. Classes are offered from March - December. These courses normally start the first Monday of the month. There is a "baseline" assessment due by the end of the 3rd day of classes. This is how attendance is reported, students then have the remainder of the month to complete the course work. Click HERE for the link to register for online in-service courses. - BLET
The NC-BLET academy training session is a state accredited program designed to prepare individuals with the requisite cognitive & physical skills to become entry-level certified Police Officers and Deputy Sheriffs within the State of North Carolina. The course is comprised of over thirty-six (36) separate blocks of instruction delivered over the duration of the training academy session. Upon successful course completion of the Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission mandated course & comprehensive State Certification Examination, graduates will be eligible for certification as a sworn law enforcement officer within the State of North Carolina.NC-BLET sessions delivered through the SCC-PSTC Law Enforcement Training Program (LETP) are typically scheduled during the months of January through June or July through December of each year, and meet from 08:00 Hrs., until 18:00 Hrs., Monday through Friday, with some evenings, nights and Saturdays required. Please note that the SCC-PSTC does not follow the curriculum schedule nor weather closings of Southwestern Community College campus locations.

- PRLEA for NPS
Since 1978 the Southwestern Community College - Public Safety Training Center (SCC-PSTC) has been dedicated to the delivery and improvement of the National Park Service – Park Ranger Law Enforcement Academy (NPS-PRLEA) program for prospective seasonal (Type II) commissioned Law Enforcement Park Rangers. Seasonal Law Enforcement Park Rangers may be assigned to one of more than three hundred (300) parks, monuments and other facilities within the contiguous forty-eight states, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the U. S. Virgin Islands and Guam, under the authority and jurisdiction of the National Park Service (NPS). Click HERE for more information.
